This page offers a brief description of my academic interests, education, and academic associations and/or memberships.
Research Interests:
Interpreting the Bible from a social-scientific/anthropological perspective (in particular applying modern ethnicity theory). Here I am much influenced by the work of Dennis Duling and Philip Esler.
This social-scientific approach has been applied to:
- The Sayings Gospel Q (Here particularly influenced by John Kloppenborg)
- Historical Jesus Studies
- Early Judaism
- Currently I am working on Paul and also the “New Perspective” as set out by James Dunn.
